A leading manufacturing company is looking for an experienced Factory Supervisor with strong experience in glass and aluminium production processes to join their team in Germiston, Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills, technical understanding of factory operations, and the ability to maintain high production and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and motivate factory staff across multiple departments, including cutting, assembling, polishing, laminating, and dispatch.

  • Manage conflict resolution, disciplinary processes, delegation, and task prioritisation.

  • Oversee daily production output to ensure deadlines and quality standards are consistently met.

  • Monitor workflow, production schedules, and resource allocation.

  • Track and report production metrics including output, downtime, and delays.

  • Implement and enforce quality control procedures throughout all production stages.

  • Investigate and resolve quality issues promptly.

  • Identify operational inefficiencies and implement practical solutions.

  • Enforce strict safety protocols when working with fragile materials and heavy machinery.

  • Communicate effectively with factory teams, management, and cross-functional departments such as procurement and logistics.

  • Provide clear instructions, guidance, and feedback to staff and supervisors.

  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to minimise downtime and address equipment concerns.

  • Utilise factory management systems and Microsoft Excel/Word for reporting.

  • Prepare daily and weekly reports on production, attendance, and stock levels.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a factory supervisory role, preferably within the glass and aluminium manufacturing environment.

  • Strong understanding of glass and aluminium production processes (cutting, processing, polishing, assembling, laminating).

  • Knowledge of machinery used in glass cutting and aluminium fabrication.

  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to maintain high safety and quality standards.

  • Proficiency in factory systems and Microsoft Excel/Word.
