A leading chemical manufacturing company is looking for an experienced Raw Materials Logistics & Planning Leader with strong experience in production planning, raw material procurement, and supply chain coordination within a chemical manufacturing environment to join their team in Durban.

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing raw material planning, supplier coordination, and production planning processes to ensure optimal inventory levels and uninterrupted manufacturing operations. This role will also be responsible for coordinating sales and operational planning processes, managing shipping and forwarding activities, and ensuring accurate forecasting and replenishment strategies aligned with production and sales forecasts. 


Responsibilities:

  • Plan and procure all raw materials and packaging required for production.

  • Forecast demand and execute replenishment strategies based on production plans.

  • Manage shipping and forwarding activities for raw material supply.

  • Review and maintain monthly re-order requirements for raw materials.

  • Maintain optimal stock levels while balancing working capital requirements.

  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.

  • Manage supply and demand balances for finished products.

  • Coordinate Sales & Operational Planning (S&OP) meetings and manage action plans.

  • Confirm monthly sales allocations within the S&OP process.

  • Work closely with inventory teams to monitor and manage warehouse stock levels.

  • Manage and maintain production planning processes within SAP.

  • Utilize planning tools and visualization systems to support operational decision-making.

  • Compile monthly reports on raw material inventory, consumption vs. bill of materials, and stock reconciliation. 


Requirements:

  • Chemical Engineering qualification (BEng / BTech or equivalent).

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in production planning within a chemical manufacturing environment.

  • SAP experience (minimum 5 years).

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Experience in Sales & Operational Planning (S&OP) and supply chain coordination.

  • Knowledge of linear programming or stochastic modelling will be advantageous.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Fluent in English.
