A leading animal feed manufacturing company is looking for an experienced Production Superintendent with strong experience in manufacturing operations management, production planning, and engineering oversight within a manufacturing environment to join their team in Worcester.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing production operations, including warehouse and bagging functions, while ensuring efficient plant performance, cost control, and compliance with safety and quality standards. The role will also act as the GMR2 appointee for the mill, requiring strong technical and leadership capabilities to manage operations, projects, and production teams within a structured manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee production operations including warehouse and bagging activities.

  • Prepare downtime reports and conduct root cause investigations.

  • Collaborate with raw materials, customer service, and technical teams to manage daily production planning and forecasting.

  • Perform capacity planning and address production bottlenecks.

  • Monitor and ensure reporting on production output including tons per hour and tons delivered.

  • Ensure warehouse reporting on bags packed, bags loaded, stock counts, and quality checks.

  • Manage stock rotation processes (FIFO) and report slow-moving or near-expiry stock.

  • Drive cost reduction initiatives and waste elimination strategies.

  • Plan and schedule maintenance-related downtime.

  • Manage operational and production-related projects.

  • Ensure compliance with integrated management systems and relevant ISO standards.

  • Maintain environmental and legal compliance requirements.

  • Lead and manage production supervisors and warehouse teams to achieve operational KPIs.

  • Manage employee relations and implement corrective actions where required.

  • Contribute to financial management initiatives through cost control and operational efficiencies.

Requirements:

  • 5–10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment at supervisory or middle management level.

  • National Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field.

  • Ability to operate as GMR2 (Government Machinery Regulations 2) appointee.

  • Strong leadership and management skills, preferably in a unionised environment.

  • Experience with manufacturing process fault-finding.

  • Computer literacy including MS Office, SAP, and OnKey systems.

  • PLC/SCADA development or maintenance experience will be advantageous.
