Job Description

A well-established engineering and construction firm specializing in delivering high-quality infrastructure and industrial solutions, is currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Estimator (Electrical & Instrumentation) to join their dynamic team in Midrand.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) estimates as directed.
  • Carefully study tender documents, specifications, and drawings.
  • Scrutinise the accuracy of material take-offs, bills of quantities, and engineering specifications.
  • Prepare material take-offs for E&I scope where engineering support is unavailable.
  • Conduct commercial adjudication of materials, equipment, and subcontractor quotations.
  • Compile complete cost estimates in line with company procedures, norms, and standards.
  • Participate in the implementation of new estimating techniques.
  • Conduct site visits when required.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Ensure adherence to company procedures related to estimating and procurement.
  • Maintain detailed spreadsheets and perform accurate bid analyses on all quotations.
  • Ensure proper filing and traceability in accordance with quality assurance procedures.
  • Carry out any additional duties as directed by the Estimating Manager or their designate.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ technical experience with proven ability in developing professional tenders for E&I projects.
  • Completed diploma or degree in Engineering or Management.
  • Strong knowledge of construction and engineering contracts.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and CCS (Candy).
  • Customer-centric mindset with strong relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated integrity and professionalism.
