A well-established property development and construction firm based in the Western Cape, is currently seeking a Construction Manager to join their dynamic team in Stellenbosch. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring high-quality construction delivery, managing site operations within budget and deadlines, and overseeing both subcontractors and casual staff. This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on professional with a strong track record in residential and/or commercial construction management.
Responsibilities
Project Management (30%)
Break down construction program timelines into weekly/monthly deliverables
Monitor weekly progress and adjust schedules as necessary
Ensure materials are ordered and checked timeously for quality and accuracy
Manage preliminary costs and reduce material wastage
Oversee plant usage and compliance with operational procedures
Quality Control (50%)
Enforce quality control using company SOPs and checklists
Conduct daily evaluations of subcontractor output and workmanship
Compile weekly snag lists and perform concrete cube tests
Communicate any quality issues to Contracts Manager
Supervision of Sub-contractors and Casuals (15%)
Identify and schedule subcontractors in line with production goals
Allocate work and track performance/deliverables
Manage casual staff and maintain accurate wage records
Ensure full compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Act
Housekeeping (5%)
Maintain a clean and organized site at the end of each workday
Requirements
Academic Qualifications
Grade 12 (Matric)
NTC certificate and trade qualification in the building industry (advantageous)
Technical Skills
Strong technical knowledge aligned with NHBRC standards
Intermediate proficiency in Excel and Word
Experience
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar construction management role
Proven ability to manage teams, enforce quality standards, and meet deadlines
