Company Overview:

Kent Materials Handling is a reputable contractor providing materials handling and support services within large-scale industrial and power generation environments. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Logistics Manger to join our operations at Sasolburg Free State.

Purpose of the Role:

To oversee and optimise all logistics operations, warehousing and distribution functions within Kent Materials Handling (Pty) Ltd. Ensuring efficient movement of goods, cost control and high service delivery standards aligned with Kent’s Group operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Logistics & Distribution

  • Lead and manage end-to-end logistics and transport operations
  • Oversee fleet management, routing, scheduling and utilisation.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant labour legislation and safety standards.
  • Drive operational efficiency, cost control and performance improvement.
  • Manage and develop logistics teams, including drivers and supervisors.
  • Handle incident investigations, reporting and risk mitigation.
  • Maintain high levels of client service and operational delivery.
  • Monitor delivery performance and resolve operational delays.
  • Implement systems and processes to improve productivity and turnaround times.


Warehouse & Inventory Management

  • Oversee warehouse operations including receiving, storage & dispatch.
  • Ensure accurate stock control and inventory management systems.
  • Conduct regular stock counts and audits.
  • Minimise stock losses, damages and variances.

Transport & Fleet Coordination

  • Oversee and manage internal fleet.
  • Plan, optimise delivery routes and schedules.
  • Monitor fleet utilisation, diesel consumption and driver performance.
  • Ensure that all company fleet is roadworthy, licensed and serviced in-line with regulations.
  • Manage fleet maintenance schedules and breakdowns.
  • Ensure compliance with the South African road and safety regulations.
  • Supervise drivers and enforce discipline, safety and performance standards.

Cost Control & Operational Efficiency

  • Develop and manage logistics budgets.
  • Identify cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
  • Analyse logistics data and prepare performance reports.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4.
  • Diploma / Bachelors’ Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in logistics/supply chain.
  • At least 2-3 years in management role.
  • Proven experience in bulk materials handling or industrial logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of fleet management, supply chain and distribution systems.
  • Experience in leading logistics companies (e.g. Imperial, Legend Logistics, SG Coal, etc.) will be advantageous.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficient in logistics systems and Microsoft Office.

Remuneration:

Market related salary (based on experience).
