A leading High-Tech Acoustics & Aviation Audio company is looking for an experienced Principal Audio Systems Architect & DSP Expert with strong experience in proprietary ANC development, AI integration, and spatial audio architecture to join their team in Knysna. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically sophisticated Architect to drive innovation across new product lines by leading hardware-software co-design, overseeing IP and patent strategy, and synthesizing bio-sensor data for immersive sound environments. If you have a Ph.D. or MS in Electrical Engineering and a proven track record of shipping cutting-edge audio products, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of advanced Active Noise Cancellation algorithms and control theory.
  • Develop and deploy real-time neural networks for audio enhancement and edge optimization.
  • Design three-dimensional sound staging using HRTFs, Ambisonics, and object-based audio.
  • Integrate physiological bio-sensor data into responsive and personalized listening environments.
  • Coordinate hardware-software co-design to ensure seamless integration of acoustic components.
  • Identify technical innovations to lead intellectual property and patent filing strategies.
  • Solve complex acoustic challenges regarding high-decibel engine and wind noise.
  • Utilize MATLAB, Python, and C/C++ for modeling and embedded DSP development.

Requirements:

  • D. or MS in Electrical Engineering, Acoustics, or DSP with a heavy audio focus.
  • Proven track record of shipping sophisticated ANC products and adaptive filter systems.
  • Expertise in training and deploying real-time neural networks like RNNs, LSTMs, and CRNs.
  • Experience with quantization and optimization for edge deployment on DSP and NPU platforms.
  • Deep knowledge of HRTFs, Ambisonics, and object-based audio for spatial sound staging.
  • Ability to solve acoustic challenges involving high-decibel engine and wind noise environments.
  • Mastery of MATLAB, Simulink, Python, and C/C++ for embedded DSP development.
  • Background in hardware-software co-design and managing IP or patent strategies.
