Our client is looking for a Shutdown Co-Ordinator / Manager to join their team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in the Oil, Gas and Petrochemical industry, with a strong focus on offshore production. This is a contract role for 8–12 months, requiring specialized knowledge in FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) shutdowns.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage shutdown operations in the Oil, Gas, and Petrochemical sectors, particularly for offshore FPSO environments.

  • Oversee the full shutdown lifecycle, including work scope development, job carding, implementation, pre-commissioning, and handover.

  • Coordinate hydrostatic, pneumatic, and nitrogen/helium testing activities.

  • Supervise multi-national workforces and ensure proper training coordination.

  • Conduct pre- and post-test inspections and maintain QA/QC procedures and certifications.

  • Manage vendor and fabrication coordination.

  • Ensure effective budget control throughout the shutdown project.

  • Utilize SAP and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project) for planning and reporting.

  • Liaise with design teams for piping-related scopes, including surveys and drawing development from P&IDs to isometrics.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in the Oil & Gas industry, with a focus on offshore production.

  • Mandatory experience in FPSO shutdowns.

  • Previous experience in roles such as Shutdown Co-Ordinator/Manager, Piping/Mechanical Superintendent, Project Coordinator, Construction Manager, Hook-Up Manager, or Marine Subsea Manager.

  • Strong knowledge of SAP and MS Office Suite.

  • Comprehensive understanding of piping design, fabrication, and testing processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage diverse teams and coordinate complex projects under pressure.
