A well-established electrical automation and repair business is seeking a skilled Electronic Repair Technician (Component Level) to join their workshop-based team in Pinetown. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong professional with extensive experience in PCB board repairs, variable speed drives, and servo systems to work on complex electronic equipment and diagnostics. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to fault find using electrical schematics and drawings, perform precision soldering and component-level repairs, and maintain accurate service and repair documentation. If you are a detail-oriented, hands-on electronics specialist with solid experience in troubleshooting and repairing electronic systems, and enjoy working in a technical workshop environment, this role could be the perfect fit for you.
Responsibilities:
- Perform fault finding and diagnostics on electronic equipment, PCB boards, and variable speed drives.
- Conduct component-level repairs, including soldering and desoldering of electronic components.
- Repair and service servo drives and electronic control systems.
- Interpret and work from electrical schematics, circuit diagrams, and technical drawings to identify faults.
- Test repaired equipment to ensure full functionality and reliability before returning to service.
- Maintain accurate repair reports and documentation for each job to support internal records and future reference.
- Record labour hours and job progress within the company’s job management system.
- Source replacement components and spare parts required for repairs.
- Prepare repair quotations, including parts and labour estimates.
- Ensure high standards of workmanship, accuracy, and professionalism in all repair tasks.
- Manage and prioritise assigned repair jobs to support an efficient workshop workflow.
- Follow company procedures and quality standards to ensure consistent service delivery.
Requirements:
- Relevant qualification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in electronics repair at component level.
- Proven experience repairing PCB boards and variable speed drives.
- Strong understanding of electronic circuits and electrical principles.
- Proficiency in soldering and desoldering techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams.
