This is a critical role for a results-driven leader with extensive experience in the FMCG sector, specifically within high-volume production environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving operational excellence, optimizing manufacturing processes, and ensuring strict adherence to safety and quality standards. If you are a strategic thinker with a proven track record of leading diverse teams to meet ambitious output targets, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and execute daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules to ensure all output targets are met on time.
  • Identify bottlenecks in the manufacturing line and implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance efficiency.
  • Manage the distribution of raw materials and machinery usage to minimize downtime and prevent overstocking or shortages.
  • Lead and inspire a large team of operators, supervisors, and technical staff to maintain high morale and productivity.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, identify training needs, and manage disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Oversee shift handovers to ensure seamless communication and continuity of production across 24-hour cycles.
  • Ensure all products meet strict FMCG standards and internal specifications through rigorous testing and inspection protocols.
  • Enforce strict adherence to OHS Act requirements and internal safety policies to maintain a zero-incident environment.
  • Monitor and control manufacturing waste and scrap levels to stay within budgetary and environmental targets.
  • Monitor operational costs, including labor overtime, maintenance expenses, and utility consumption.
  • Work closely with the engineering team to schedule preventative maintenance and rapid repairs of production machinery.
  • Compile and present detailed reports on Key Performance Indicators such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma in Engineering, Production Management, or a related technical field.
  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, specifically within the FMCG sector.
  • Proven experience in a senior supervisory or management role with a track record of leading large, diverse teams.
  • Strong technical understanding of automated production lines and high-speed packaging machinery.
  • In-depth knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Total Quality Management (TQM) principles.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act) and environmental compliance standards.
  • Advanced proficiency in using ERP systems (such as SAP or Syspro) and Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
