Job Description
An established company is seeking a skilled and experienced Business Development Manager to join their team in Roodepoort. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in business development within manufacturing or FMCG environments.
Responsibilities:
Set objectives, manage, and measure performance of subordinates.
Manage staff and ensure optimal utilisation of resources.
Apply consistent discipline in the workplace.
Train and develop staff, conducting warehouse meetings and ensuring effective communication.
Liaise with management in all departments and internal team members.
Determine and motivate delivery potential on required products.
Report on assignments, providing ongoing feedback on progress and barriers.
Track tasks to meet set due dates and ensure accurate reporting to management.
Support successful transitions to Co-Packer management or Clover integration.
Investigate internal markets to establish potential opportunities.
Evaluate suitable partners to meet Clover standards.
Explore different channels to expand food operations in South and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Conduct technical due diligence exercises.
Evaluate potential Co-Packers and/or joint ventures, ensuring reliability, cost efficiency, and quality.
Ensure legal compliance, acceptable quality, equipment, and service levels.
Assess production capacity potential.
Manage new country projects: draw up master plans, prepare estimated costs, and apply for required CAPEX in Production and Supply Chain.
Nominate and coordinate project team members.
Report regularly on project progress and submit final proposals for approval.
Prepare post-meeting summaries, business analyses, and due diligence reports.
Provide data required for financial analysis and business case development.
Maintain ongoing relations with potential and unsuccessful partners to ensure future opportunities.
Manage and maintain effective business relations to support new business development in South and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Requirements:
Education
- Honours Degree (minimum requirement).
Experience
- 6–8 years of relevant experience in applying job-related concepts, techniques, and processes at the required level.
- 6–8 years’ experience working with senior management.
- 4–6 years’ people management experience.
Skills & Competencies
- Fluent in Business English.
- Advanced computer literacy.
- Code 08 Driver’s License.
- Willingness to travel off-site/overnight.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
