Job Description

Our client is looking for a Tissuemaker / Papermaker to join their team in Johannesburg. The company operates in the tissue manufacturing industry, producing high-quality wadding and tissue products for various clients. The ideal candidate will have strong experience operating and managing tissue machines and a solid technical background in pulp and paper technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate tissue machine and virgin stock preparation plant efficiently.

  • Ensure the production of high-quality tissue products in line with customer specifications.

  • Oversee daily schedules, employee shifts, and time off requests.

  • Assign duties, monitor progress, and ensure daily production targets are met.

  • Train and mentor new and existing employees to build a competent team.

  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.

  • Resolve employee issues and disputes promptly.

  • Organize workflows and optimize resource utilization.

  • Participate in problem-solving activities, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Conduct regular quality control checks and ensure compliance with safety protocols and lockout procedures.

  • Participate in maintenance shutdowns and troubleshooting of plant equipment.

  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping according to 5S principles.

Requirements:

  • National Diploma in Pulp and Paper Technology or equivalent qualification.

  • Proven experience operating tissue machines and in stock preparation.

  • Previous experience as a Senior Tissue Maker or equivalent role.

  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing production teams.

  • Knowledge of risk assessment, lockout procedures, and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • Computer literacy and familiarity with production software and reporting systems.

  • Willingness to relocate and flexible availability.
