Job Description

We are looking for a Finance Controller to join a business that imports and distributes industrial electrical and automation products. The successful candidate will oversee financial reporting, compliance, and controls, ensuring accurate financial management and supporting strategic decision-making. This is a leadership role within the finance team, providing guidance and insight across the business.

Responsibilities

  • Lead preparation and presentation of monthly management accounts and financial reporting packs

  • Oversee reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end closing processes

  • Ensure compliance with IFRS, tax regulations, and company accounting policies

  • Support statutory audits, liaising with external auditors and regulatory authorities

  • Manage VAT, corporate tax, and other statutory submissions

  • Implement, monitor, and strengthen internal financial controls

  • Provide financial analysis to support business strategy and operational decision-making

  • Supervise, coach, and develop finance clerks and accountants

  • Drive ERP and systems optimisation (preferably Oracle NetSuite)

  • Partner with operational managers to improve cost control, cash flow, and profitability


Requirements

  • BCom Accounting or equivalent qualification

  • 5+ years’ experience in financial accounting, controlling, or audit

  • Advanced Excel skills and ERP system experience (Oracle NetSuite)

  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and South African tax regulations
