A leading financial institution is looking for an analytical and detail oriented Junior Credit Analyst to join their team in Gauteng. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional to drive sound lending decisions by preparing comprehensive credit proposals, conducting in-depth financial statement analysis, and evaluating the creditworthiness of SME clients. Responsibilities:
- Compile detailed credit proposals for the Executive Credit Committee, assessing client financial positions to determine finance eligibility for assets and trade.
- Analyse financial statements, management accounts, and VAT returns to evaluate the performance of applicants and guarantor entities, including the preparation of balance sheet spreads and information consolidation.
- Conduct SWOT and sensitivity analyses to identify potential hazards within specific industries or client profiles and propose necessary mitigating factors.
- Perform qualitative reviews and corporate ratings while researching market trends to determine the affordability of repayments.
- Investigate client backgrounds, management structures, and credit histories via reports like Kreditinform to verify security confirmations and banking status.
- Conduct monthly analysis of book debts held as security, liaising with clients to determine recoverability and updating security values within the system.
- Maintain and update trade review registers and tracking schedules for all revolving asset facilities, ensuring all approval dates and review statuses are current.
- Gather and review FICA documentation for new and existing clients while ensuring all deal files and checklists are accurately maintained.
- Respond to technical queries from various Credit Committees and the Board of Directors regarding submitted proposals and financial analyses.
Requirements:
- Degree or relevant qualification in Finance or Accounting.
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience within a Finance or Accounting environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Sound knowledge of Credit Policies and Procedures.
- Understanding of Shariah Banking principles.
- Familiarity with general banking policies, products, and services.
- Strong foundational knowledge of Finance and Accounting principles.
