A well-established and reputable group of companies operating in both the water production and forestry sectors is seeking a highly skilled Workshop Manager to oversee and lead their busy mechanical workshop in Pietermaritzburg.

This is a key leadership position responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and reliability of all mechanical equipment across both business units.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day workshop operations.
• Lead, mentor, and manage the workshop team.
• Perform and supervise repairs, servicing, and maintenance on all mechanical equipment.
• Ensure reliability and uptime of yellow plant and diesel-powered machinery.
• Manage workshop budgets, parts, planning, and reporting.
• Maintain high safety and compliance standards.
• Support operational requirements from both the forestry and water production divisions.

Minimum Requirements

• Qualified Diesel Mechanic (trade-tested).
• 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong experience working on yellow plant, diesel engines, boilers, and industrial equipment.
• Proven leadership experience managing teams in a workshop environment.
• Strong emotional intelligence, integrity, and a calm leadership style.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities across different business units.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
