Job Description

A mortgage specialist company based in Durban is looking for a B-BBEE Verification Specialist to join their team of professionals and manage the company’s B-BBEE portfolio for all the entities.

In this role, you would provide guidance, expertise and direction for the data required and ensure that all the transformation objectives and targeted B-BBEE certification levels are achieved for all the entities.

The successful individual will have excellent numeracy and accounting skills, strong knowledge of B-BBEE legislation, strong knowledge of amended FSC codes and the ability to work with large amounts of data.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leading successful strategic B-BBEE initiatives to improve transformation and B-BBEE
    • Ownership: monitor, manage and ensure required records
    • Management Control
    • Employment equity and skills: drive the EE and skills development in collab with HR and in line with targets
    • Procurement: regulate and coordinate the end-to-end process
    • Enterprise & supplier development: develop strategies
    • Social: collab with relevant committees on the ED strategy and develop an annual CSR programme
  • Managing the annual B-BBEE verification process
    • Ensure readiness for the verification process
    • Coordinate collection and submission of data
    • Manage a relationship with an agency
    • Regular reporting
    • Complete necessary administration and preparation
    • Update the B-BBEE scorecard monthly
    • Compile required evidence
    • Proper record-keeping, database management and data collation
    • Collect and collate financial statements and invoices
    • Update skills development training stats
    • Receive and store socio-economic development letters
    • Ensure all enterprise development invoices and registers for training are filed
  • Addressing gaps identified in the annual B-BBEE verification process
    • Identify and close gaps in each reporting period
    • Develop scenarios to close gaps and drive transformation
    • Meet with relevant stakeholders to address gaps
    • Report on progress to management
  • Compliance with the legislative framework governing B-BBEE
    • Keep abreast of legislative changes and amendments
    • Adhere to requirements, reporting, rules, policies and processes

Key requirements:

  • 5 years’ overall B-BBEE verification experience
  • 2 years’ experience with Amended Financial Services Sector Code as a verification analyst or manager
  • Working knowledge of B-BBEE legislation and codes
  • B-BBEE Technical signatory preferred
  • Financial / Legal industry exposure preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce/Law or Business Management
  • Completed B-BBEE Management Development Programme preferred
