Job Description

Hire Resolve's client, a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with a strong presence in municipal infrastructure development, is currently seeking a highly skilled Assistant Resident Engineer to join their team in Gqeberha. This is an excellent opportunity for a civil engineering professional looking to grow their career on complex road and water-related infrastructure projects.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee site supervision and construction monitoring of municipal services projects (roads, stormwater, sewer, and water reticulation).

  • Conduct regular site inspections and ensure compliance with engineering standards and specifications.

  • Coordinate and liaise with contractors, local authorities, and other stakeholders.

  • Monitor project progress and ensure adherence to timelines and budgets.

  • Apply FIDIC contract conditions throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Review and interpret technical drawings and ensure accurate implementation on site.

  • Assist with resolving design and construction issues.

  • Compile site reports and maintain accurate project documentation.


Requirements

  • National Diploma or BTech/BSc/BEng in Civil Engineering.

  • 3–6 years of experience in civil infrastructure projects.

  • Proven design and site supervision experience across both roadworks and water/sewer/stormwater projects.

  • Experience with FIDIC contracts is essential.

  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and SANS standards.

  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., Civil 3D, AutoCAD).

  • Registration with ECSA as a Candidate or Professional Engineering Technologist/Engineer will be advantageous.

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and coordination skills.
