Job Description

Hire Resolve's client, a well-established firm of consulting engineers and scientists, is seeking a highly experienced Financial Manager to lead their finance department. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership capabilities and a deep understanding of financial systems and best practices. The ideal candidate will play a key role in driving financial performance, ensuring compliance, and supporting long-term business goals. The position is based at the firm’s offices in Rivonia, Johannesburg.

Responsiiblities

  • Lead, manage, and motivate a finance team of 15 staff members

  • Oversee daily financial operations ensuring compliance with local regulations and company policies

  • Manage financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for senior management

  • Provide strategic financial analysis and decision support to the executive team

  • Implement and manage financial systems including Proman, SAGE payroll, SAP Ariba, and Coupa

  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation and submission of financial reports

  • Maintain internal controls and drive process improvements for efficiency

  • Review and implement cost control measures and financial strategies to maximise profitability

  • Provide mentorship and leadership to promote professional development within the team

  • Verify and approve payroll transactions prior to final processing

  • Collaborate with business leaders to provide financial insights for strategic decisions

  • Liaise with external auditors during year-end audits and manage audit processes and responses

  • Ensure compliance with King IV and IFRS standards


Requirements 

  • At least 15 years of financial management experience, including team leadership

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • Chartered Accountant (CA), CIMA, or equivalent professional certification

  • Proficiency with financial systems such as Proman, SAGE payroll, SAP Ariba, and Coupa

  • Strong knowledge of financial management principles and practices

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills

  • Proven track record of improving financial performance and implementing strategy

  • High level of self-motivation and ability to handle multiple priorities

  • Experience in consulting engineering firms is highly advantageous
