Our Client is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join their long-standing, family-oriented team in Pietermaritzburg, KZN. The role involves servicing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy equipment and vehicles, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Trade-tested qualification is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Extensive experience in diesel mechanics, including breakdowns, site servicing, and preventative maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of welding and fabrication (a plus).
  • Proven experience working with vehicles, heavy equipment, graders, dozers, milling machines, pavers, and other machinery.
  • Experience maintaining fleets of up to 130 heavy equipment units (excluding smaller machinery).
  • Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to a supportive work environment.
  • Knowledgeable, hands-on, and willing to learn and adapt.
  • Open to candidates with relevant experience from Free State and Mpumalanga.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct breakdown repairs and site servicing of heavy equipment and machinery.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
  • Ensure all repairs and servicing are completed to a high standard.
  • Collaborate with the team to minimize equipment downtime and meet operational requirements.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-focused environment in a family-oriented business.
